Physical activity and sports

Sport and social engagement can help us all to be healthier, happier and engaged members of our community

Offering people pathways to sport

Our Physical Activity & Sports Department offers people pathways to physical activities and sports.  This can be in the wider community or within your Horizons services.  We are involved in local and national disability-sports  inclusion policy making, which we think is really important.

Your individual needs

We offer supports on a referral basis and we make every effort to meet individual needs in a safe, inclusive and community-based environment. We have a hydrotherapy pool which is based in Montenotte. This is used for recreational swimming, swim teaching and hydrotherapy.

Inclusive sports

We work hard to promote inclusive sports and empower people we support, together with members of local communities, to participate together in meaningful physical activities and sports. These experiences can be life enhancing and physically and socially inclusive.

You can join us

We welcome new partners to join us in promoting inclusive sports and sharing our wonderful sports facilities across Cork. We want to increase levels of physical activity and sports participation and promote inclusive sports leadership within local clubs and organizations. Right now, we engage in inclusive sports partnerships with community clubs, including basketball, bocce, road bowling, boxing, football, rugby, table tennis, cycling, athletics, golf and others.
