We caught up with last year’s Golf Classic winners, Killian Kelly from Kelly & Associates Consulting to chat all things golf, and why they continue support this key fundraiser, year in and year out.

Congratulations again on last year’s win Killian! Are Kelly & Associates Consulting Engineers coming back this year to defend your title?
We enter the same team into the Horizons Golf Classic each year and look forward to attending Friday morning, 6th June.
Kelly & Associates Consulting Engineers are a Cork based company who provide creative solutions to the health, educational, pharmaceutical, leisure and housing sectors. What does it mean to you to support a local non-profit organisation such as Horizons?
We have supported Horizons Golf Classic since 2016. It is exceptionally well organised every year and is a day that our team always enjoy. It is great to see Horizons continued success in supporting people with an intellectual disability and / or autism to live a life of their choosing. It is testament to the hard work and vision of Horizons that they now support 2,800 people in more than 70 locations around Cork city and county. It is great to be able to make a small contribution to an organisation that provide such a wide range of supports for people in our community.
This year, we have a new name, a new course and a new challenge. Have you played the Alister MacKenzie course at Muskerry Golf before? If so, what is the most demanding hole on the course/or what are you looking forward to the most?
All the stars were aligned last year when we had the privilege of winning the Golf Classic. We have played the Alister MacKenzie course at Muskerry previously. The 17th hole is always challenging and hopefully the scramble format will be a source of encouragement for our team.
How long have you been playing golf? What do you love about golf?
I took up membership of a golf club a couple of years ago and try to play once a week. It’s great to get out for a game, particularly after a busy week. I really enjoy the social aspect of playing golf with friends and also meeting new people. It’s great to have the opportunity to play great courses in the Horizon’s Golf Classic and we enjoy catching up with everyone each year.
Do you like the scramble format? If so, why?
I really enjoy the scramble format. It provides great fun and takes the pressure off individual performances generally.
If you could pick any pro golfer to join your team, who would it be and why?
I reckon we would definitely achieve back to back wins with Scottie Scheffler on the team. However, I’ve a feeling that I would be the one to be replaced!
If your team had a slogan or motto during the tournament, what would it be?
Golf: Where Every Shot Tells A Story
Finally, would you encourage others to get involved in this event? Why?
Horizons Golf Classic is a very well organised event and is a really enjoyable day out. It provides great awareness of the many services and supports the organisation offers for so many people in Cork city and county, and most importantly the money raised makes a significant difference in promoting better services. The event gives people an opportunity to support a very worthy local charity, and build friendships with all that attend the event each year.
A huge thank you to KACE for taking the time to share their experience with us.
This year brings a fresh name, a new course, and an exciting challenge. Join us for the two-day event at Muskerry Golf Club on Thursday, June 5th, and Friday, June 6th, 2025.
