Psychology

Psychologists work to promote the best possible psychological health of the children, and adults with intellectual disability and/ or autism supported by Horizons.

This work includes assessments and interventions comprising of therapeutic work, behavioural supports, individual/ group therapy and family supports. Psychologists work in close partnership with their colleagues across all disciplines.

It is envisaged that the new Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNTs) under the Progressing Disability Services for Children and Young People national programme will be in place by 2021 and psychology services to children will then be delivered from these teams. Access to the Adult Psychology Team is open to all individuals supported by Horizons services. People are referred for many different reasons including emotional, social and behavioural issues. Individuals are supported to find solutions to the problems they are experiencing.

Referral forms to access Psychology services are available on request.
